Abstract
In this talk, I will give an overview of my research activities, which includes both field data collection and modelling of data. My main focus is on understanding system through hydrological modelling and on model structure understanding. I will explain the difference
between model parameterisation and model structure and how this might affect model outcomes. I will outline my vision of how we might develop a framework to optimise the model structure rather than the model parameterisation.
Short Bio
Willem Vervoort is an Associate Professor in Hydrology and Catchment Management, at the School of Life and Environmental Sciences, University of Sydney.
He has an undergraduate degree from Wageningen University in the Netherlands and a PhD in field hydrology from the University of Georgia. He has been working at the University of Sydney since 1999.
He is interested in a variety projects related to water, agriculture and the environment.
The aim of his research lab is to understand the natural variability of Australian landscapes to improve the management of human variability (impacts).
