El estudiante de doctorado Henry Korb de Wind Energy Section, Department of Earth Sciences, Uppsala University (Suecia), presentará este miércoles 6 de noviembre un Seminario del IMFIA, titulado “Fast high-fidelity modelling of wind farm flows using the Lattice Boltzmann Method”.
Resumen de la charla:
Wind turbines and wind farms continue to grow in size, covering areas of 400 km^2 and reaching 250m into the sky. Therefore, wind farms also interact differently with the atmosphere and thermal stratification plays a key role in that interaction. It will be present an overview of the work at the Wind Energy Section of Uppsala University, Sweden, to model wind farms in atmospheric boundary layers using a GPU-resident Lattice Boltzmann Method; including recent work on extending our solver to model thermally stratified flows, achieving faster than real-time LES simulations of whole wind farms.
